Do we need to rewrite all our existing content?

No. Start with the content that already ranks well in organic search but is not getting AI citations. That's the highest-ROI restructuring work because you have the authority signals, you just lack the extraction formatting. Typically we restructure 10-20 high-value pages first, then build new content citation-ready from day one. The audit identifies exactly which pages to prioritize.

Content freshness seems impossible to maintain at scale. How do you handle it?

We build a 90-day refresh cycle into every engagement. Not cosmetic date changes. Real updates: new statistics, updated competitive context, current examples. Content under 30 days old gets 3.2x more citations. We prioritize refreshes based on citation performance data, so you update the pages that matter most, not everything equally.

Do you write the content or just provide strategy?

Both. We produce citation-ready content and restructure existing content for AI extraction. For clients with in-house content teams, we provide the strategy framework, content templates, and review output against citation-readiness criteria. Either way, every page ships with entity paragraphs, FAQ schema, data tables where applicable, and definition blocks.

Do we need existing SEO before starting AI content strategy?

Yes. AEO builds on SEO. If your site has no organic rankings, no backlink profile, and no content library, start with SEO first. AI content strategy amplifies existing authority. It does not create it from scratch. Most of our clients already invest in SEO and want the AI search layer added. If you need foundational SEO, see our Webflow SEO services.

What is answer engine optimization (AEO)?

Answer engine optimization is the practice of structuring website content so AI systems can retrieve, interpret, and cite it in their responses. Unlike traditional SEO, which optimizes for ranking position, AEO optimizes for selection. When a buyer asks ChatGPT or Perplexity a question, AEO determines whether your brand appears in the answer. It covers entity architecture, structured data, content format, and AI crawler access.

How does AEO differ from SEO?

SEO gets your pages ranked in search results. AEO gets your brand cited in AI-generated answers. SEO focuses on keywords, backlinks, and page authority. AEO focuses on entity clarity, structured data, content format, and machine readability. They are complementary, not competing. Most companies need both. The difference is that strong SEO rankings alone do not guarantee AI citation. AEO closes that gap. Read more: SEO vs GEO vs AEO vs LLM

What is GEO and how does it relate to AEO?

Generative engine optimization (GEO) is the broader discipline of optimizing content for all generative AI surfaces, including ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Copilot, and Claude. AEO is a subset focused specifically on answer-format responses. At Veza Digital, we deliver both through the WAIO framework. When we say AEO, we mean the full scope of generative engine optimization. Read more: SEO vs GEO vs AEO vs LLM

Can AEO improve visibility in AI Overviews and AI Mode?

Yes. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode pull citations from pages with strong entity signals, clean structured data, and content formatted as direct answers to specific queries. AEO directly targets all three. Authoritas research shows 46% of AI Overview citations come from pages already in the top 10 organically. If you have existing SEO equity, AEO is the layer that converts those rankings into AI citations.

How do you optimize content for LLMs?

We start with entity mapping: defining your brand, products, and people as distinct entities with clear relationships. Then we restructure content around those entities using semantic HTML, deploy schema markup (6+ types per site), configure AI crawler access, and test how LLMs actually respond to your target queries. It is iterative. We test, measure, adjust, and retest on a monthly cycle because LLM behavior changes constantly.

Do you use structured data for answer selection?

Yes. Structured data is central to every engagement. We implement FAQPage, HowTo, Organization, Product, Service, Breadcrumb, and Speakable schema as JSON-LD. Each type serves a different function in how AI systems parse your site. FAQPage schema, for example, directly maps questions and answers for LLM retrieval. Most B2B sites either skip structured data entirely or implement a single generic block. We deploy six or more types, validated and mapped to specific content on every page.

How do you measure AEO ROI?

Monthly citation count across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, and Copilot. Share of voice versus competitors in AI-generated responses. GA4 traffic from AI referral sources. Ahrefs AI mention tracking. We track these on a monthly basis and report against the baseline established in your initial audit. The metrics are concrete and comparable month over month. See our recommended tools: Best AI SEO tools

How long does it take to see results?

Early signals appear within 10 to 60 days. Schema deployment and crawler configuration changes are indexed quickly by AI systems. Content restructuring and entity optimization take longer to propagate. Full results typically materialize at 3 to 6 months. This is why we structure engagements as 12-month commitments. AEO compounds over time as AI systems accumulate more data about your entity and content authority.

Does AEO replace SEO or work alongside it?

AEO works alongside SEO. They target different surfaces. SEO targets traditional search rankings. AEO targets AI-generated citations and recommendations. The strongest position is both: ranking in the top 10 organically AND being cited in AI responses. Authoritas data shows nearly half of AI Overview citations come from top-ranking pages, which means your SEO investment directly feeds AEO outcomes. Read more: SEO vs GEO vs AEO vs LLM

What industries benefit most from AEO?

B2B SaaS, fintech, healthtech, and AI companies see the fastest returns. These industries have buyers who actively use AI tools for vendor research, high-intent commercial queries that trigger AI Overviews, and competitive landscapes where citation presence directly influences pipeline. That said, any B2B company where buyers research solutions through AI tools will benefit. The determining factor is buyer behavior, not industry.

Can you do SEO and AEO simultaneously?

Yes, and we recommend it. Most of our engagements include both. SEO and AEO share foundational elements: content quality, site architecture, and technical performance. AEO adds entity optimization, schema deployment, AI crawler access, and LLM response testing on top of that foundation. Running them together is more efficient than sequencing them because the technical work overlaps significantly.

What is the WAIO framework?

WAIO stands for Website AI Optimization. It is Veza Digital's proprietary framework for building websites that are readable, citable, and recommendable by AI systems. WAIO covers four pillars: entity-first content architecture, schema implementation and citation engineering, LLM response testing and generative engine optimization, and performance and crawlability. Every AEO engagement we deliver is built on WAIO. Learn more about WAIO

How much does AEO cost?

Typical AEO engagements start at $8,000 per month for 12 months. This gives enough time to iterate on the latest tech and tests on your site for best results. For full setup and migrations to AEO-ready architecture, minimum project size is $28,000. We start every engagement with a free AEO audit so you can see your current AI visibility before committing. We publish pricing because transparency matters in a market where most agencies hide it.

Is AEO just repackaged SEO?

No. We understand the skepticism. The AEO market has a credibility problem because some agencies relabel existing SEO work. Here is what we deliver that is not SEO: LLM response testing across 6 AI platforms, schema deployment of 6+ structured data types per site, AI crawler configuration (robots.txt, llms.txt, IndexNow), entity mapping and disambiguation, and continuous monitoring of how AI systems cite your brand. For Chili Piper, this work produced 62 AI Overview citations across 29 pages. That is not repackaged SEO. That is a different discipline with different inputs, outputs, and measurement.

Does AEO work for voice search?

Yes. Voice assistants (Siri, Alexa, Google Assistant) pull from the same structured data and entity signals that AEO optimizes. Clean schema markup, direct-answer content formatting, and strong entity clarity are exactly what voice search systems use to select responses. Voice search optimization is a natural byproduct of AEO, not a separate workstream. We offer it as an optional add-on for companies that want dedicated voice optimization beyond the standard AEO scope.

Does AI traffic actually convert better?

It depends entirely on your site. Webflow sees 6x higher conversion from ChatGPT. Amsive studied 54 sites and found no significant difference overall. The pattern: sites designed for AI visitor behavior convert dramatically better. Sites that treat AI traffic the same as Google traffic see no benefit. The variable is your conversion experience, not the traffic source.

Our organic traffic is declining. Should we be worried?

Maybe not. Webflow's VP of Growth: lower-value, lower-intent traffic went down while higher-quality AI traffic grew. Aggregate traffic is misleading without source quality metrics. If AI traffic is growing and converting better while generic informational traffic declines, your pipeline may be improving even as the topline number drops. You need to measure them separately to know.

How is this different from your Webflow CRO service?

Webflow CRO covers traditional CRO for all traffic: A/B testing, funnel analysis, UX improvements. AI-Powered CRO specifically optimizes for AI-referred visitors: source segmentation, dynamic personalization by referral, trust signal optimization, compressed funnel design. Different traffic behavior, different approach.

We cannot tell how much AI traffic we get. Can you help?

Yes, that is Step 1. Most GA4 setups lump AI traffic into organic or referral. We implement custom channel grouping with regex patterns to isolate ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, and AI Mode referrals. Plus self-reported attribution to capture the 60-70% of AI influence invisible in referral data. ProductiveShop found AI traffic is under 1% of sessions for most SaaS, growing 40-45% month over month (ProductiveShop, 2026 quarterly reports).

How do you measure success?

Monthly reporting: conversion rate by AI source (ChatGPT vs Perplexity vs AI Mode), AI traffic volume trend, funnel drop-off by source, pages per session, time to conversion, personalization impact. Named tools: GA4 custom channels, heatmaps, session recordings. Self-reported attribution field tracking. Not proprietary dashboards.

Why do AI visitors behave differently from Google visitors?

AI compresses the buyer journey. A Google searcher clicks 5-6 links doing comparison research. A ChatGPT user gets that bundled in one answer. By the time they click through, they have done the research phase inside the AI. They arrive evaluating, not researching. Seer Interactive found ChatGPT visitors view 2.3 pages per session and convert at 15.9% vs 1.76% from Google.

What happens when AI tells a prospect something wrong about us?

This is a unique CRO problem. AI might describe your service inaccurately. The visitor arrives expecting something you do not offer. We design landing page patterns that confirm what AI got right and correct what it got wrong: "We are often recommended for X. Here is what we actually specialize in and why that is better for your use case." Turning AI misrepresentation into a conversion opportunity.

Do we need separate landing pages for AI traffic?

Not necessarily. Dynamic personalization can adapt a single page based on referral source. AI visitors see proof and action upfront. Google visitors see education first. Same URL, different experience. Webflow Optimize handles this natively with AI-powered audience targeting and variant delivery. For high-volume AI sources, dedicated landing pages can be tested as separate variants within the same Optimize experiment.

We barely get any AI traffic yet. Should we start with CRO?

No. Start with AEO to generate the traffic first. AI-Powered CRO optimizes traffic you already receive. If ChatGPT does not cite you and you do not appear in AI Overviews, CRO alone will not help. Get cited first, then optimize conversion. See our AEO services.

We invested in AEO but pipeline didn't improve. Why?

Citations without conversion optimization equals visibility without revenue. Getting cited sends visitors to your site. But if your landing pages, funnels, and trust signals are designed for Google traffic, those AI visitors bounce or convert at the same rate as everyone else. CRO is the missing link between getting cited and getting customers.

How much does this cost?

Part of WAIO engagements. $8,000 per month for 12 months. $28,000 setup. CRO is the conversion layer that maximizes value from AEO, content strategy, and technical optimization. See pricing.

How quickly do we see results?

Attribution setup: 1-2 weeks. Baseline: 2-3 weeks. First A/B tests: 4-6 weeks. AI traffic is growing rapidly, so optimization compounds. Short conversion windows help: Webflow's AI-referred users convert within 7 days. You do not wait 90 days for the pipeline to reflect changes.

Do we need to be on Webflow?

CRO principles are platform-agnostic. But A/B testing and dynamic personalization are Webflow-first. Webflow Optimize gives us native AI-powered testing, audience segmentation, and variant delivery directly in the platform, no third-party code required. For other platforms: we deliver strategy, test specs, and personalization rules. Your team implements. Webflow clients get end-to-end. See Webflow agency services.

How is this different from the free AI search audit?

The free audit gives you a baseline: current citation count across 6 AI platforms, top competitive gaps, and 3 to 5 quick wins. Delivered in 5 business days. No commitment. This comprehensive audit adds 30 days of continuous tracking, competitor benchmarking, technical and content audits, entity analysis, and a 90-day prioritized action plan in a 30-page report. The free audit tells you where you stand. This audit tells you exactly what to do about it.

Should I start with the free audit or go straight to the comprehensive?

Start with the free audit if you have never measured AI visibility before. It gives you enough data to know whether this channel matters for your business. If you already know AI search is important and want the full diagnostic to build your strategy, the comprehensive audit saves time. Many clients do the free audit first, then upgrade when they see the gaps.

Why pay $4,500 when free tools exist?

Free tools like the Ahrefs AI Visibility template and Adamigo's grader give you raw data. They do not give you interpretation, competitive context, or an action plan. It is the difference between a dashboard full of numbers and a finance team that tells you what the numbers mean and what to do next. This audit includes 30 days of tracking (not a one-time snapshot), manual analysis by our AEO team, competitor benchmarking across 6 AI platforms, and a prioritized 90-day roadmap tied to your specific business goals and buyer queries.

Why 30 days of tracking instead of a one-time check?

AI citations fluctuate daily. Perplexity might cite you today and not tomorrow. A snapshot tells you where you are at one moment. 30 days of tracking reveals patterns: which citations are stable, which are volatile, which competitors consistently appear, which queries you are gaining or losing. Patterns drive strategy. Snapshots drive guesswork.

Which AI platforms do you test?

ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, Google AI Mode, Gemini, and Copilot. Each platform cites differently and has different source preferences. The audit covers all of them with platform-specific analysis.

What prompts do you test?

Not generic queries. We build a custom prompt set from your target keywords, competitor keywords, sales team input on what prospects ask, and industry-specific buyer questions. Typically 50 to 100 prompts tested across all 6 platforms. You review and approve the prompt set before tracking begins.

Do I get the raw data?

Yes. All citation data, tracking results, and competitive intelligence is yours. Export-ready. Use it however you want. The report synthesizes the insights, but the underlying data belongs to you.

Why $4,500?

Most AI audits on the market cost $500 to $1,500. Those are snapshot audits: automated tool output from a single day, repackaged in a branded PDF. They tell you where you are right now but not whether that position is stable, trending, or anomalous. $4,500 buys 30 days of continuous tracking, manual analysis by Sasha Kuridza and our AEO team, competitor benchmarking against 3 competitors, a technical and content audit of 20 to 30 pages, and a 90-day action plan designed to be a board-ready business case. Neil Patel's audit pricing research puts quality audits between $500 and $7,500. We sit in the upper range because the deliverable justifies it.

Is the $4,500 credited toward a WAIO engagement?

Yes. If you move into a WAIO engagement ($8,000/month) within 60 days of receiving the audit, the $4,500 is credited in full toward your first month. The audit becomes your onboarding. If you do not move forward, you still own the report outright.

Can I take the report to another agency?

Yes. The report and action plan are yours outright. If you want Veza Digital to execute, the audit maps directly to our WAIO services. If you prefer another agency or your internal team, the action plan works standalone.

How long does the audit take?

Approximately 6 weeks from kickoff. Week 1: intake and prompt configuration. Weeks 2 through 5: continuous tracking across 6 AI platforms. Week 6: analysis, report production, and strategy call. The 30-day tracking period is what takes the time. We cannot compress it without losing pattern data.

What do you need from us to start?

Access to Google Search Console and Google Analytics. A list of your top 3 competitors. Input from your sales team on what prospects ask when evaluating vendors. We handle everything else.

What happens after the audit?

We walk you through the findings on a 60-minute strategy call. You receive the full report and action plan. If you want Veza Digital to execute the recommendations, we scope a WAIO engagement based on audit findings, starting with AEO services. If not, you have a complete roadmap to execute independently.

We're on Webflow. Does that change the audit?

The audit scope is the same regardless of CMS. But Webflow clients get deeper technical recommendations because Webflow is where our implementation expertise lives. If the audit reveals technical fixes like schema implementation, AI crawler configuration, or content restructuring, we can implement them directly on Webflow as part of a WAIO engagement. For other platforms, we provide the specs and your team implements. Learn more about our Webflow work.

What is conversion rate optimization (CRO)?

CRO focuses on improving how many visitors take meaningful action on your site, which includes things like demos, form submissions, and purchases.
