INTRODUCTION
Veza’s Site Redesign for a Leading Data Orchestra Platform
Dagster.io is a top-tier open-source data orchestration platform that enables data engineering teams to build, schedule, and monitor data pipelines. They provide the essential infrastructure that allows other companies to develop and support their AI solutions.
It's all about making these pipelines observable, scalable, and sustainable. What sets Dagster apart is its "asset-first" approach. Although Dagster's technology was powerful and ideal for developers, its website primarily addressed that technical audience.
Dagster recognized the need to reach a broader audience, including product managers, data engineers, and enterprise decision-makers. They wanted a partner who could clearly explain their advanced technology to this diverse group.
That's where Veza Digital came in.
Evolving Beyond the Developer Niche
The Veza Design Director oversaw the transformation of Dagster.io's website. The primary goal was to elevate the platform from a tool primarily used by developers to a comprehensive, enterprise-grade solution.
The existing website, while functional for its technical audience, no longer served Dagster's evolving ambitions. The team recognized a critical need to broaden its appeal, reaching decision-makers and enterprise clients who sought robust data orchestration capabilities.
From a development standpoint, this was a significant migration. The previous site was custom-coded, and they aimed to migrate to Webflow.
This presented a unique challenge, pushing Webflow's capabilities to replicate existing functionalities and, crucially, to establish a user-friendly content management system that had been lacking.

OUTCOME & RESULTS
The Design & Development
The team introduced a clean, professional aesthetic that truly reflects Dagster's experience and reliability. This included a cohesive color palette and refined typography, creating a visual language that resonated with an enterprise audience.
To effectively communicate Dagster's complex functionalities, we implemented interactive elements throughout the site. These elements provided engaging and clear insights into how Dagster works, enabling users to quickly grasp its value proposition.
Content was meticulously organized into clear, digestible sections. This structured approach enabled users to rapidly understand Dagster's offerings and benefits, regardless of their technical background.
Webflow Migration & Custom Solutions
The migration to Webflow required innovative solutions. With approximately 60 static pages and 10 template pages, totaling over 1000 individual pages, the primary hurdle was migrating all CMS items (blogs, glossaries, integrations, events, case studies, etc.).
The custom-built nature of the old website meant there was no standard CSV export. We devised a workaround to convert their provided files into a usable CSV format.
While this saved significant time, we still had to review and format each page to ensure absolute accuracy manually.
The entire website was built using Webflow symbols and components. This modular approach resulted in more than 15 reusable sections, making future maintenance and the creation of new pages incredibly efficient and straightforward.
SEO Optimization
A comprehensive SEO strategy was implemented, including new meta titles and descriptions for both static and dynamic pages, canonical tags, and the strategic creation of FAQ schema where applicable.
Moving to Webflow was a game-changer, making it significantly easier for their team to manage content.
Ultimately, our collaborative effort yielded a polished, ready-to-go design that effectively elevated Dagster's vision across the entire site, making it more transparent and engaging for all users.
This smooth teamwork resulted in a faster launch and a higher-quality end product.
